First thing first: I want you to rate your happiness on a scale from 1 – 10. 10 being the happiest. Don’t fib, be completely honest with yourself. Once you see your life more clearly, you know where you may need some improvement.
How positive are you?
Do you look at the glass half full or half empty? When you wake in the morning, do you look forward to the day or do you dread it? Your life can change in a blink of an eye with just the right attitude. Look around and appreciate what you have. Once you feel fortunate, you lack nothing. Your glass will turn toward the full side, not the empty.
Do you control your Happiness or do you leave it up to chance?
Do you see the world as “if I only had that car to drive; I’d be happy.” “If I was married to so-and-so; I would be happy.” Yes… we would all like to win the lottery. But if it we don’t; do we just throw our hands in the air and give up? Hell NO! We are fighters, born with the ability to strive for greatness. Get behind the wheel and begin steering your life toward your goals.
What steps are you taking to make a better life?
Get out a pen and paper and set some goals. Do you want to be more positive? Now, what steps are you taking to do that? Do you have a few obstacles getting in my way? What steps can you take to remove or change those obstacles into opportunities? Nothing will change if you do nothing. Change happens only when you make it happen. Be more active toward your own happiness.
Reward yourself for every victory
Damn straight you want those well-earned spoils of war you’re waging against your happiness blockers. If you make a change for the better and it was a tough journey; reward those wins with something that makes you happy. It might be chocolate, a dinner away from home, or a new hairstyle. We reward our kids and loved ones when they do something great ALL-THE-TIME! Why are we not deserving of a healthy pat-on-the-back too? If you can learn to become your own BFF, your life will improve.
