At one time or another, we feel less confident than we should. Age, illness, hardships, and just bad circumstance can pull us down, but how do we help ourselves if we’re feeling a little inadequate. Here are a few tips to help start believing in yourself again.

Go To Bed When You’re Tired

When we force our bodies to power through when we’re overtired, we end up with a sub-par product, not to mention the late start our bodies receive for the upcoming day that will soon appear. The human brain and body shut down for a reason, and when that happens, we need to listen to those messages by going to bed. When we wake refreshed, we’re more equipped to handle the day thus raising our confidence.

Each Week Write a Goal You Want To Achieve

Even if you just want to clean out the fridge, organize your makeup drawer, run to groceries the store, or walk the dog, write it down, and make sure you work on accomplishing that goal all throughout the week so that when Sunday rolls around, you’ve accomplished something. Most of the time, when we complete a goal, we feel better. In turn, helps raises our confidence.

Compliment Yourself, Then Reflect on That Throughout The Day

Let’s say; it’s a pretty clothes day, a beautiful haircut, sexy shoes, or just a good-looking smile; compliment yourself, then reflect on that personal treasure throughout the day. Every person is unique, and beautiful in their own way. Time to celebrate your uniqueness, raising your perception of yourself, creating more self-esteem.

Whatever Brings You Joy, Take a Picture of it

If it’s the sunset that lit up the sky that evening, the flowers in the boutique’s window, your clean kitchen, the sunlight streaming through the window…. take a quick pic of it. Then when you’re feeling a little blue, revisit those happy moments and let them do what they do; lift your mood.

Reward Yourself On Friday Night

When we strive to make our lives better by creating goals, and then the struggles we faced to accomplish those goals…. we need a reward. It doesn’t need to be a Disneyland vacation, drinking heavily at the bar, or a social gathering. (Yet, if that’s your thing….. Then go for it!) But rewarding yourself could be as simple as eating your favorite frozen treat, reading the book you’ve been wanted to start, taking a long walk in the park, or a bubble bath with a glass of champagne. The key is to look forward to something each week. Allow your efforts to be revered.

Confidence is perception.

Be positive with your image and turn it into self-confidence.

I am a 48-year-old woman with nothing more than a high school diploma and two years of college under my belt. During my short college experience, I took a creative writing class and received a D+ from my professor. I never considered myself a writer, nor had I given it much thought until I experienced a personal hardship. I escaped the pain by burying myself into something creative instead of crying all day.

I told myself, ‘Just get to 60,000 words and then you can say you’ve written a book.’ Initially, I began writing as therapy but soon discovered; I loved it. An alternate universe exists? Inside MY head? Why had I not seen this before?

My husband, daughter, and sister advised me that I should create a blog, so that’s what I did. I believe the key to life is trusting your heart and following your dreams, no matter how big or small they are. No one knows what treasures lie deep within yourself unless you’re willing to travel into unknown territory to uncover those hidden gems. For me, that is the case. I have a true passion for writing. I am grateful for this opportunity to share my thoughts with others. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I loved writing them.

I do have a book series that will come out soon. I will post a few chapters before it is published so my readers can have the first look.

XO Beverley Miles.
